The views from Tooele Valley of the Salt Lake are stunning, and for many years I've been painting both sunrises & sunsets as well as many state and national parks.
For the past 10 years I've also branched out to creating sculptures made of paper, caning, metal and LED lights and ceramics, first as a reflection of nature's forms and small puppet-like characters and then later as constructions that represent homes, buildings, doors and travel.
This stage involves planning and experimenting with different approaches and materials to bring the artistic vision to life. It's a process of discovery as the artist refines their ideas and hones in on the essence of their concept. Some works are thrown out and put aside at this point, but with lots of practice it becomes easier to find the balance between what the artist wants and what actually happens.
